Meeting of Chief Secretaries of Assam- Mizoram held in Delhi, CAPF to be deployed along NH-306
July 28: A meeting was held with Chief Secretaries and DsGPs of Assam and Mizoram under the chairmanship of Union Home Secretary in New Delhi on 28 July. The meeting held at the North Block arrived at some important decisions. After the meeting, a joint release was issued which was signed by Jishnu Barua, Chief Secretary of Assam, Lalnunmawia Chuaungo, Chief Secretary of Mizoram and Piyush Goyal, Additional Secretary, (North East), Ministry of Home Affairs.
The following decisions were taken in this meeting:
- Neutral force, that is, CAPF to be deployed in the disturbed Assam and Mizoram border area along NH 306 under a senior officer of CAPF
- Further, in order to facilitate the functioning of neutral force, both the Government of Assam and Government of Mizoram will work out arrangement in coordination with Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India within a reasonable time frame.
- The State Governments should continue discussions mutually resort’s the border issue in an amicable manner.
