2 more deaths registered in last 24 hours at SMCH

Sept. 24: The coronavirus pandemic has now led to a procession of death also in Barak Valley. Since the last few days, the valley witnessed many deaths, although all of them were not certified as COVID-19 deaths. However, this also cannot be ruled out that all of them were infected with coronavirus. Those COVID positive persons who die due to comorbidities are usually not certified as ‘Covid-19’ death by the State Death Audit Board.

On Thursday, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) informed that in the last 24 hours, the Valley witnessed 02 more deaths at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH). Out of them, 01 is from Cachar district while the other is from Karimganj. The deceased were identified as:

• Madhab Roy (53) from Chandmari, Tarapur in Silchar was admitted in SMCH at 6,20 AM on 23 September. He, however, breathed his last at 8.10 AM on the same day. His death was certified as Non-Covid death by the State Death Audit Board.
• Swapan Deb (50) from Patharkandi in Karimganj was admitted in SMCH at 10.02 PM on 22 September. He succumbed to the infection at 5.40 PM on 23 September. His death was certified as Covid death by the State Death Audit Board.
