2 more Covid +ve patients dies at Silchar Medical College on 13 May

May 13: Thursday witnessed demise of two more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board as per the protocol. Out of the 02 deceased at SMCH on 13 May, 01 of them is from Karimganj district, while the other is from Hailakandi. The deceased were identified as:

• Rijiya Begum Barbhuiya (45) from Algapur in Hailakandi district was admitted at SMCH on 12 May. She, however, breathed her last at 6.30 AM on 13 May, 2021.
• P.K. Bhattacharjee (68) from Badarpur in Karimganj district was admitted at SMCH also on 12 May. He died at 1.30 PM on 13 May, 2021.

Dr. Bhaskar Gupta further informed that a total of 192 active coronavirus patients are admitted at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), out of which, 153 of them are in Covid ward and 39 at ICU. Out of them 109 patients are in oxygen support and 14 are in ventilation. In last 24 hours, 23 new patients were admitted whereas, 15 of them were discharged at SMCH. Further, 50 patients opted for home isolation.
