2 more Covid-19 patients die at SMCH on Sunday

78 patients in ICU, 11 in ventilator support & 96 put under oxygen at SMCH

June 20: Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 19 June to 5 PM on 20 June) witnessed demise of 02 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Both of them. The deceased were identified as:

  • Dhananjoy Das (70) from Daramkhal in Cachar district was admitted at SMCH on 18 June. The patient,  however, passed away at 11.20 AM on 20 June.
  • Pradip Tanti (74) from Laboc Tea Estate in Cachar took admission in SMCH on 3 June. He breathed his last at 3 PM on 20 June.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 20 June, there were 135 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 78 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 57 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 11 patients were put under ventilator support and 96 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 23 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 17 of them were discharged. Further, 02 of them have opted for admission at Covid Care Centre.
