2 detected Covid +ve till 5 PM in Cachar on Sunday, 1 death at SMCH

Oct. 24: A total of 02 new case of COVID-19 was reported till 5 PM on Sunday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 1,317 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done in which 02 persons were found positive, whereas till the filing of this report, RT-PCR test results were not made available. It needs mention here that 16 persons were detected Covid-19 positive on Saturday.

The Covid-19 situation in Cachar is gradually improving. There has been substantial decline in the number of daily positive cases. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 23 October to 5 PM on 24 October) witnessed the death of 01 more Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Sunday evening. The deceased was identified as:

• Biswajit Das (62) from Barikgram in Karimganj district was admitted at SMCH on 21 October. The patient, however, breathed his last at 6.20 PM on 23 October.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 24 October, there were 16 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College. Further, 01 patient was put under ventilator support, and 04 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 03 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 02 of them were discharged.
