2-day dry run of COVID-19 vaccine rollout begins in 4 states including Assam

Dec. 28: India will hold a dry run for COVID-19 vaccination exercise in two districts each of four states at the four corners- Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Punjab on 28 & 29 December. The dry run will assess operational feasibility of using Co-Win application and identify challenges before the vaccine roll outs. Co-Win is an application which  will virtually monitor the vaccination process.

Further,  the four states will also be reporting their observations recorded during the programme to the centre. The exercise will include data entry on Co-Win, testing  receipt & allocation, deployment of team members, mock drill of session sites with test beneficiaries.

The dummy vaccination exercise will proceed through four stages:

  1. Each district will receive the dummy vaccine for 100 beneficiaries from the nearest depot.
  2. Temperature will be traced through the vaccines journey from the depot to the vaccination sites.
  3. The beneficiaries will be sent an sms in advance with the name of the vaccinator and the time of the vaccination.
  4. The beneficiaries will be made to dit for 30 minutes after being administered the vaccine. In case of any complications, its management will be tracked through the central server.
