174 tests COVID-19 positive in Cachar till 7 PM on Tuesday

September 1: Another 174 new cases of novel coronavirus were detected in Cachar district till 7 PM on Tuesday. There is probability that the numbers might increase at night. During the day, 1206 Rapid Antigen Tests were done. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Tuesday late evening.

Till now, 46,862 tests were done in Cachar district, out of which, 4,730 were tested positive. A total of 6,399 Rapid Antigen Tests were done so far in the district. The rate of positivity is 10 percent.

Under the special drive undertaken by the health department in Municipal area of Silchar, a total of 1,480 Rapid Antigen Tests were done from 27 August to 31 August. 252 positive cases were detected out of the 1480 RAT. Among them, 194 were allowed home isolation, whereas 64 of them were admitted in hospitals.

Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli on Tuesday revealed that many housing societies have submitted NoC for keeping asymptomatic patients in home isolation. However, Jalli was quick to add that they should come forward for testing of their inhabitants. The district administration has started a web portal cachartesting.clapia.com for online registration for swab testing. “If 30 people register for test, mobile team will be sent to that locality for conducting tests,” she added.

Meanwhile, the administration is starting fever survey in every ward. “This step has been taken to make sure that people don’t remain untreated,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner, Health, Sumit Sattawan. He informed that in spite of all the best efforts of the administration, people are not turning out to the testing centres.

In the 1st slot of RT-PCR Test results on Tuesday, 08 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive. A 24-year-old female from Cachar Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (CCHRC) was tested positive during the day. Apart from her, 3 more persons from Masimpur Military Station were found positive. All three of them exhibited Influenza Like Illness Symptoms (ILI). They are a 26-year-old male, 49-year-old male and a 20-year old male. Further, a 24-year-old female from Vivekananda Road was detected positive through Assam Targeted Surveillance Programme (ATSP). Two more persons in this slot were found positive, whose source of getting infected was not mentioned in the SRF. They are a 77 years old male from Daspara, SMCH, Ghungoor and a 34 years old male from Baskandi Part II. They are, however, asymptomatic.

In the 2nd slot of RT-PCR Test results, only 02 persons were found positive in Cachar district. Out of them, one is Dr. Al Amin Barlaskar (23) from SMCH who came in contact with a lab confirmed case. He is symptomatic. Another 32 years old male from Vivekananda Road, Silchar was also found positive during the day. He was detected through Assam Targeted Surveillance Programme (ATSP). He is, however, asymptomatic.

In the 2nd slot of RT-PCR Test results on Tuesday, only 1 person from Cachar was found positive. She is 58 years old from Saratpally. Her source of getting infected was also not specified in the SRF.
