17 Bangladeshi nationals from Biswanath detained for violation of visa norms

way2barak, Sept.17: Around 17 Bangladeshi nationals allegedly camping at the Baghmari area under the Jinjia police station in Biswanath district were detained for violating the visa norms on Saturday. As per reports, these Bangladeshi nationals since the last three days and were carrying out religious preaching activities on a small scale.

Confirming this, SP Navin Singh of Biswanath district said that these Bangladeshi nationals entered India via Cooch Behar on various dates in the month of August 2022. They then came to South Salmara district in Assam and engaged themselves in religious preaching. Police have registered a case against them under the Foreigners Act and also initiated the process to cancel their visa.

SP Singh said, “They have entered India through tourist visas and were allegedly carrying religious preaching which is a clear violation of the visa conditions, hence, we are registering a case against all the 17 Bangladeshi under the Foreigners Act.”
