Water Level of all rivers in Barak Valley receding

July 14: In a sign of relief for the inhabitants of Barak Valley, water level of all the rivers were reported to be receding. Barak along with its tributaries were full upto the brim due to incessant rains. However, with little improvement in weather, the water level since early morning of Sunday has started to fall or steady.

At 1 PM on Sunday, the water level of River Barak at Annapurna Ghat Silchar was 20.18 (Trend: falling). The danger level over here is 19.83. Further, in the morning, the other rivers in the valley were also reported to be receding at a slow pace.

• Badarpurghat (Karimganj) – 17.63 (Trend: Falling)
• Matizuri Katakhal (Hailakandi) – 22.23 (Trend: Steady)
• Karimganj Kushiyara – 16.16 (Trend: Steady)

However, according to skymetweather.com, “Moderate to heavy rain and thunder shower with isolated very heavy and strong gusty winds will occur over Baksa, Barpeta, Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Cachar, Charaideo, Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Hojai, Jorhat, Kamrup, Kamrup Metro, Karbi Anglong East, Karbi Anglong West, Karimganj, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Morigaon, Nagaon, Nalbari, N.C.Hills, Sivasagar, Sonitpur, South Salmara-Mankachar, Tinsukia and Udalguri districts of Assam during next 24 hours.”

As per Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Sunday will generally witness cloudy sky with intermittent rain. On Monday, the weather forecast by IMD for Cachar shows thunderstorm along with rain.
