158 tests +ve in Cachar till 6.30 PM on Saturday, numbers likely to go up at night

August 8: Another 158 persons were tested COVID-19 positive till 6.30 PM in Cachar district. 136 persons were found positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) whereas only 22 of them were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. Further, report of many slots are yet to come during late evening and night; and so the numbers will also go up at night. This was disclosed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Saturday evening.

Suman Choudhury further informed that 2136 persons were tested (RAT) on Saturday. Mr. Choudhury said, “We hoped to do more tests today but as because some of the technicians of mobile medical unit had been put under containment, so we could do the testing of only 2136 persons. Further, due to weekend lockdown, people came out in less numbers.”

Mr Choudhury informed that till Friday a total of 2661 patients tested positive. There were 1012 active cases in Cachar. 1643 patients were discharged and the district recorded a total of 6 deaths so far.  With 158 more cases on Saturday, the district tally went upto 2819.

“We have been receiving complaints from some Covid Care Centres. As a result, Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli wearing PPE visited the COVID Care Centre at Sarla Birla School in Meherpur, Silchar. She took stock of the prevailing situation over there and interacted with the doctors, nurses and the patients. She also directed to solve the somewhat minor problems that are prevalent in that centre,” said Mr. Choudhury.

He also said that, “Many a times we find that people keep on taking to Facebook or Twitter to air grievance about the available facilities in the Covid Care Centres. In some cases, when we send ambulance to bring the COVID patients in the hospitals, we find that they keep on delaying the process and tell that they need more time to go. So we need to send ambulance twice or thrice to bring the same person. ironically, the same person comes live in Facebook and alleges that ambulance has not come to his house. We are trying our level best to provide service. The ambulance drivers are passing through a hectic schedule and are able to sleep for only 2 to 3 hours.” He categorically refused to accept the allegation that ambulance do not go at proper time to pick up the patients.
