150 tests positive in Cachar on Tuesday, 3 more COVID-19 deaths in the district

August 11: On Tuesday, 150 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Cachar district. During the day, 143 persons were detected positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and only 07 in RT-PCR Test. A total of 2165 Rapid tests were conducted during the day, out of which 143 were found positive.

On Tuesday, three more deaths due to COVID-19 were reported from Cachar district. With this, the death tally of Cachar due to coronavirus has gone upto 09. Though all three of them died on 10 August, but the State Death Audit Board certified the cause of their death as due to COVID-19 on 11 August. This was confirmed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert. On Monday, the number of positive cases were more as 194 tested positive on that day.

After the details of the death case reports were submitted by Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), the Death Audit Board certified that the following persons died due to COVID-19. They are: as Sanchita Paul Choudhury (65), Swapna Choudhury (64) and Yahiya Ahmed Barbhuiyan (40). However, though positive, yet the Audit Board on 11 August regarded the death of one Nirmalendu Kumar Deb (53) as non-COVID-19 death. In the report issued by Death Audit Board, it was further stated that “Necessary dead body disposal should be carried out as per the State protocol in consultation with the district administration.

From now onwards, Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) for detection of COVID-19 patients shall be done by 20 private hospitals in Cachar district. An order in this connection was issued by Sumit Sattawan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Health) on Monday. Out of the 20 private hospitals selected for RAT Test, three of them have started rapid test on Tuesday. The three private hospitals of Silchar, where rapid test can be done are Green Heals Hospital, Meherpur, S.S. Poly Clinic & Nursing Home, SMC Road, Silchar and Jeevan Jyoti Health Care & Research Centre, Meherpur, Silchar.
