14 fresh COVID-19 cases in Hailakandi, tally now 170; two minors infected

Atiqur Rohman Barbhuiya 23, Porimol Ray, 49, Rahuluddin Choudhury, 19, Mohibur Rahman Laskar, 19, Ayesha Begum, 2, Sujit Hazra, 26, Ripon Ahmad Mazarbhuiya, 20, Kabir Hussain, 23, Bharti Hazra, 19, Sudipta Nath, 21 and Zakir Hussain Laskar, 19, have all tested positive. Barring two from Thane, Maharashtra, the rest have travel history to Bangalore.

Of the 14 infected persons, three were under institutional quarantine at SC Dey College, four at Polytechnic Institute and two at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya while five persons were under home quarantine. Two persons were home quarantined at Apin Part II, one at Pakua Punji Bhairabi and two others at Junglee Tila, Koya tea estate. All the infected persons have been admitted at isolation wards in the district.

Of the swab samples tested on Thursday, 355 turned out to be negative while 14 tested positive. Two COVID-19 positive patients succumbed to the contagious disease in the district, the recent victim being Mangoli Rani Das, 53, a resident of Bakrihower Part I under Algapur revenue circle, who breathed her last at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMC&H) on Friday.

Another COVID-19 positive patient named Foijul Haque Barbhuiya, 65, of Borjurai village under Hailakandi revenue circle died at SMC&H on April 10 last. 75 patients on being cured have been discharged from civil hospital in Hailakandi, SMC&H, Silchar and Guwahati Medical College and Hospital. There are currently 95 active cases.

47 infected persons are admitted at SK Roy Designated COVID-19 Civil Hospital, 24 at MG Model Hospital in Hailakandi, 21 at SMC&H and one at Kalapahar designated COVID-19 Hospital in Guwahati.
Of the 4,078 swab samples taken, 3,517 turned out to be negative as on Thursday evening. Results of 333 swab samples awaited.

Altogether 1,327 persons are under facility quarantine centre and 1,756 under home quarantine. 343 persons arrived by several buses from Guwahati on Thursday at Dholeswari Inbound Passenger Facilitation Centre where screening and swab samples were collected. A total of 3,399 persons arrived in the district from different parts of the country since unlockdown Phase 0.1.
