12 new positive cases reported in Cachar on Tuesday
July 14: Cachar registered 12 new COVID-19 positive cases on Tuesday. On Monday, 44 persons tested positive in Cachar. In last 24 hours, a total of 56 positive cases were reported from the district.
The 12 new persons who tested positive on 14 July in Cachar district are: Subhas Rukiason (23) from Arkatipur, Pranesh Das (27) from Sialtek, Nizfulbari Part-1, Siva Tanti (22) from Haltwa Tea Estate, Gopesh Tanti (26) from Chengduar Tea Estate, Rabi Tasa (23) from Haltwa Tea Estate and Rupam Ahmed Laskar (25) from Nakdirgram Part-IV, Sonai. All 6 of them came to Cachar from Maharashtra. They were quarantined at Don Bosco School, Silchar. Their swab samples were collected on 11 July and their reports came on 14 July. All of them are asymptomatic.
The other 6 positive persons detected on Tuesday are Edwin George (32) from BSF Dholcherra. He came from Dimapur and was quarantined at Don Bosco School, Silchar. He too is asymptomatic. Sultan Ahmed Laskar (25) from Kanakpur also tested positive. He exhibited Influenza Like Illness (ILI) symptoms. He was put under home quarantine. His swab sample was collected on 13 July. This patient is symptomatic.
Sarimul Haque Ahmed (27) from Haikhal, Kanchanpur and Baharul Islam (38) from Narainpur, Bhaga Bazar came from Bengaluru on 11 July and their swab samples were collected on that day. While Sarimul Haque was quarantined at NATRIP, Baharul Islam was quarantined at home. Both of them are asymptomatic.
Two more positive patients who tested positive on Monday are Suraj Mandal (24) from Itkhola, Silchar who travelled by air from Bengaluru to Silchar. He was quarantined at NIT Silchar. His swab sample was collected on 11 July. Awdesh Mishra (52) also from Itkhola came to Silchar from Bihar. He was quarantined at Hotel Gateway. His swab sample was taken on 12 July. However, both of them are asymptomatic.
During the routine press briefing, District Media Expert, Suman Choudhury said that the number of positive cases are now increasing in Cachar district. He informed that on Tuesday, 2 slots of swab results were declared. In these two lists, 12 persons tested positive. He informed that test results of two more slots will be declared later on in the night.
From now onwards, the district health department will formulate a policy whereby only symptomatic cases which requires special attention will be admitted at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). Suman Choudhury said, “From today onwards, the Foreigners’ Tribunal Building at Udharbond will also be used as a make shift hospital. Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli also visited this centre on Tuesday morning. We will start admitting COVID patients over there from Tuesday evening.
Mr. Choudhury further informed that DC Cachar also visited Chibitabichiya Model Hospital. He said, “We have also made some arrangement at this Model Hospital. Here also within a day or two, we will be accommodating upto 100 COVID patients. These centres are mainly for asymptomatic patients.”
