119 High Schools to be set up in Tea Estate areas of Assam

August 1: A total of 119 High Schools will be set up in Tea Estate areas of Assam. This is for the first time since independence that the Tea Estate areas will get high school in their locality. Till now, there were only LP and ME school in garden areas. The construction work of the 119 schools will be started on 2 October, 2020 during Gandhi Jayanti. This was disclosed by State Education Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma during a press briefing at Janata Bhawan, Guwahati on Saturday.

Th minister further stated that the an amount of Rs. 1 crore 19 lakh will be sanctioned for construction of each schools. The said schools shall be ready by 1 April, 2021, when the new academic session will begin in the state.
