118 tests +ve on Wednesday in Cachar including doctors & health workers

21 patients in critical stage at SMCH; 6 died in last 24 hours

August 26: On Wednesday, 118 persons were tested COVID-19 positive in Cachar district. However, the results of some more slots of RT-PCR Test are yet to be declared and so the numbers are likely to increase at night.

Moreover, 6 persons from Barak Valley died at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) in the last 24 hours. Out of the 6 deceased, 5 are from Cachar & 1 from Karimganj. This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH.

In the 1st slot of RT-PCR Test Results, on Wednesday, 15 persons were detected positive. Dr.Tanuj Kumar Biswas tested positive during the day. he is symptomatic. Another 29 years old health worker from SMCH was also found positive. One more health care worker from SMCH, a 52 years old male tested positive. Two jawans from Masimpur Military Station and another one from BSF Masimpur tested COVID-19 positive. Out of the 3, two of them came in direct contact with high risk lab confirmed case, while one of them has got a travel history.

There were few more in the 1st slot who tested positive but their source of getting contaminated was not mentioned in the SRF. They are a 18 years old male from Ram Mohan Sarani at Sonai Road, 40 years old female from Uttar Krishnapur, 53-year-old male from Ambicapatty, 30-year-old female from Uttar Krishnapur, 32 years old male & 26 years old male from CISF Camp, Near DRDA Office, 55 years old female from Kathal Road & 21 years old male from Uttar Krishnapur.

In the 2nd slot of RT-PCR Test results, only 1 person from Cachar was found positive. She is a frontline health care worker, Dr. Gazala Khanam Barbhuiya (27) from Botertol in Meherpur. She is symptomatic.
