117 COVID-19 patients undergoing treatment at SMCH including 3 in ICU: Dr. Bhaskar Gupta
July 13: At present 117 COVID-19 positive patients are admitted in Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). Out of the 117 active patients, 3 are admitted in the ICU. These 3 have been identified as Nikhil Chandra Das and Moni Kanta Sinha from Cachar and Chiranjib Das from Hailakandi. Out of them, the condition of Nikhil Chandra Das is critical. Apart from being corona positive, this patient suffers from comorbidity. Earlier, he suffered from stroke. He also suffers from some other diseases like diabetes, blood pressure etc. This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH during the routine press briefing on Monday.
Dr. Bhaskar Gupta further informed that a PG Student in the Pathology department of SMCH tested positive on Monday. This junior doctor was deputed in corona surveillance duty at Udharbond.
Dr. Gupta also informed the two consecutive test reports of eminent gynaeocologist Dr. Monika Deb were negative. However, she was not yet released. As per the revised COVID-19 protocol, even if negative, a patient shall have to remain in hospital for atleast 10 days. He also informed that in the last 24 hours, 59 persons tested positive as per the reports of SMCH lab.
