10 lakh devotees observe Kalpvas at Sangam during Mahakumbh

Prayagraj, February 7 : Around ten lakh people are observing the ancient tradition of Kalpvas in Sangam, Mahakumbh. The devotees observe Kalpvas for one month till Maghi Poornima, strictly adhering to the prescribed rituals. It is believed that Kalpvas is regarded as a supreme path to spiritual growth and purification. The Uttar Pradesh government has made special arrangements to ensure a smooth and spiritual experience for devotees during this sacred observance.

The Kalpwasi are staying near the banks of the holy Sangam and engaged in Vedic studies and meditation. During the period, the Kalpvasi bathed thrice a day, performed prayers, and followed a lifestyle of simplicity and discipline. A  woman, Kalpvasi Reema Singh of Gwalior, said that during the period, she remained engrossed in worship and devotion to God. The month-long Kalpwas commenced on 13th January, and Paush Purnima will continue till 12th February.
