Out of 42, only 12 active cases in Assam
April 30: Thursday seems to be a day of worry for the people of Assam. After 4 corona positive cases were reported from Bongaigaon district in the afternoon, news came in about one more person infected with COVID-19 in late evening from Karimganj district in southern Assam. With this, the total number of positive cases went up to two in Karimganj. The 1st COVID-19 patient was also detected from Karimganj on 31 March, who is still undergoing treatment at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH).
The person detected positive on 30 April is a secondary contact of a Nizamuddin Markaz attendee. Sources in the Karimganj district administration informed that the 19 year old youth was already under institutional quarantine in Karimganj when he was tested positive on Thursday. Meanwhile, the patient will now be brought to Silchar Medical College & Hospital for treatment.
Now, with the detection of the new case from Karimganj, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Assam rises up to 42. However, it needs mention here that out of 42 cases, 29 of them got cured and were already discharged, 1 of them died and there are only 12 active cases at present in Assam.

Taking to his twitter handle, state Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Alert ~ One person from Karimganj, secondary contact of a #NizamuddinMarkaz attendee, has tested positive for #COVID19. Total #COVID19 patients in Assam now stands at 42. (29 are discharged, 1 death, so active hospital cases 12.)”
