ওয়ে টু বরাক, ২ এপ্রিল : ভারত সরকারের শিক্ষা মন্ত্রকের বিশেষ কার্যসূচির অধীন ‘এক ভারত শ্রেষ্ঠ ভারত যুব সঙ্গম’ অনুষ্ঠানের অঙ্গ হিসেবে শিক্ষামূলক ভ্রমণে জওহরলাল নেহরু বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় সহ দিল্লির অন্যান্য উচ্চ শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান থেকে ৫০ জন ছাত্রছাত্রীর একটি দল শনিবার আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় সফর করেছে। তাদের সঙ্গে ছিলেন জওহরলাল নেহরু বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের তিন অধ্যাপক এবং এনআইটি শিলচরের চার অধ্যাপক। এনআইটি শিলচর এবং জওহরলাল নেহরু বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের যৌথ উদ্যোগে এই যুব সঙ্গম অনুষ্ঠান চলবে আগামী ৪ এপ্রিল পর্যন্ত। ছাত্রছাত্রীদের দলটি আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে শনিবার দুপুরে শিক্ষামূলক ভ্রমণে আসে। অনুষ্ঠানের সমন্বয়ক ছিলেন আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রোক্টর ড. হিমাদ্রি শেখর দাস। ভ্রমণের রূপরেখা তৈরি করেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ‘এক ভারত শ্রেষ্ঠ ভারত’ এর সমন্বয়ক ড. দেবতোষ চক্রবর্তী এবং শিক্ষাকর্মী অরিজিৎ গোস্বামী।

শুরুতেই অতিথিদের নিয়ে যাওয়া হয় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের নক্ষত্র বনে। উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক রাজীব মোহন পন্থ উত্তরীয় দিয়ে জওহরলাল নেহরু বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের তিন অধ্যাপক ড. অনামিকা, ড. প্রকাশ সাহু এবং ড. প্রবীণ কুমার ভাটি এবংএনআইটি শিলচরের চার অধ্যাপক ড. বিপ্লব দাস, ড. আশারানি এম, ড. জীবনজোৎ সিং এবং ড. রাম কিন্দাস্বামীকে বরণ করেন। উপাচার্য প্রাঞ্জল ভাষায় বরাক উপত্যকার কৃষ্টি, সংস্কৃতি এবং সংক্ষিপ্ত ইতিহাস ছাত্রছাত্রী তথা অতিথি শিক্ষকদের সামনে তুলে ধরেন। তিনি জানান, নক্ষত্র বনে রয়েছে নানা ওষধির গাছ। প্রতিটি গাছেই লাগানো রয়েছে ‘কিউ আর কোড’ যা স্ক্যান করে জানা যাবে গাছের নাম এবং এর উপকারিতা তথা অন্যান্য বিস্তারিত তথ্য। মূলত: ভারতীয় জ্যোতির্বিজ্ঞানের সাতাশটি নক্ষত্রের কথা মাথায় রেখেই সাতাশটি বিভিন্ন প্রজাতির ওষধি গাছের চারা এই বাগানে রোপণ করা হয়েছে। এছাড়া জ্যোতির্বিজ্ঞানের উন্নততর গবেষণা এবং পর্যবেক্ষণের জন্য স্থাপন করা হয়েছে ‘আর্যভট্ট মানমন্দির’। এই মানমন্দিরেই রয়েছে উত্তরপূর্ব ভারতের অন্যতম বৃহৎ দূরবীন-১৪ ইঞ্চি সেলেস্ট্রন রিফ্লেক্টর। পাশাপাশি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে স্থাপন করা হয়েছে ‘ওয়ার মিউজিয়াম’ এবং ‘ট্রাইবেল মিউজিয়াম’।

এরপর প্রাসঙ্গিক বক্তব্য রাখেন ড. দেবতোষ চক্রবর্তী এবং ডঃ হিমাদ্রি শেখর দাস। এরপর ছাত্রছাত্রীদের নিয়ে যাওয়া হয় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের রবীন্দ্র লাইব্রেরিতে। সেখানে বইয়ের সংগ্রহ, রিডিং রুম এবং ডিজিটাল ক্যাটালগ দেখে মুগ্ধ হন অতিথিরা। লাইব্রেরি পরিদর্শন করানোর দায়িত্বে ছিলেন শিক্ষাকর্মী অনুরাধা নাথ। ছাত্রছাত্রীদের পরবর্তী গন্থব্যস্থল ছিল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে থাকা ইনস্টিটিউট অব জিওম্যাগনেটিসমের অবজারভেটরি। অবজারভেটরির দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত আধিকারিক পীযুষকান্তি দাস জানান, এটি স্থাপনের পর থেকেই পৃথিবীর চৌম্বকক্ষেত্র পরিমাপ করে চলেছে সেখানে বসানো যন্ত্রপাতি যা গবেষণার নানা কাজে লাগছে। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দর্য নজর কাড়ে সফররত ছাত্রছাত্রীদের।

সন্ধ্যায় পদার্থবিদ্যা বিভাগের কনফারেন্স রুমে আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ছাত্রছাত্রীদের সঙ্গে মত বিনিময় করে সফররত পড়ুয়ার দল। এরপর তাঁদের নিয়ে যাওয়া হয় বিভাগের ছাদে থাকা আর্যভট্ট মানমন্দিরে। দূরবীক্ষণ যন্ত্রের সাহায্যে রাত্রিকালীন পর্যবেক্ষণ করানোর ব্যবস্থাও সেখানে করা হয়েছিল। দায়িত্বে ছিলেন বিভাগের গবেষক ভাস্কর গোস্বামী, ভাস্করজ্যোতি বর্মণ, বিকি প্রসাদ, নির্মল বর্মণ ছাড়াও বিভাগের ছাত্রছাত্রীরা। আবহাওয়া অনুকূল না থাকায় শুধু চাঁদ পর্যবেক্ষণ করাই সম্ভব হয়েছিল। উত্তরপূর্বের এক প্রত্যন্ত স্থানে এমন মানমন্দির স্থাপনের ভূয়সী প্রশংসা করেন অতিথিরা।

সবার শেষে অতিথিরা ‘ওয়ার মিউজিয়াম’ পরিদর্শন করেন। ভারতীয় সেনাদের নানা কীর্তি কাহিনী তথা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ তথ্য সমন্বিত এই মিউজিয়াম সবার নজর কাড়ে। তিন ঘণ্টার এই ভ্রমণে অনেক কিছুই জানতে পারে শিক্ষার্থীরা, এমনটাই মন্তব্য করলেন সফররত শিক্ষকরা। সফর শেষে ছাত্রছাত্রীরা এনআইটি শিলচরে ফিরে যায়।

Way2barak, April 2 : A group of fifty students from Jawaharlal Nehru University and other higher educational institutions of Delhi recently visited Assam University, Silchar as part of an educational trip under the ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat Yuva Sangam’ programme. The programme is a joint initiative of NIT Silchar and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and is sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Three faculty members from JNU Dr. Anamika, Dr. Prakasha Sahu, Dr. Praveen Kumar Bhati, and four faculty members from NIT Silchar Dr. Biplab Das, Dr. Asha Rani M, Dr. Jiwanjot Singh, Dr.Ram Kindasami also accompanied the students’ team. The visit took place on Saturday and was coordinated by Assam University Proctor Dr.Himadri Sekhar Das.

The trip was planned by Dr. Debotosh Chakraborty, Co-ordinator of the Assam University’s ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ Unit, and Mr. Arijit Goswami, a non teaching staff of the university. The visitors were first taken to the ‘Nakshatra Vatika’ of the University, where they were welcomed by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant, who nicely explained the culture, history, and diverse language beauty of the Barak Valley. He explained that Nakshatra Vatika concept is related to twenty seven ‘Nakshatra’ of ancient Indian Astronomy. So twenty-seven different species of medicinal plants are planted in the garden, each with a ‘QR code’ that provides detailed information about the tree’s name, benefits, and other relevant data. Additionally, the Aryabhatta Observatory, which houses one of the largest telescopes in Northeast India – the 14-inch Celestron Reflector, has been set up for better research and observation of astronomy. The university has also established a ‘War Museum’ and a ‘Tribal Museum.’

The next destination was the University’s Rabindra Library, where visiting students were impressed by the book collection, reading room facility, and maintenance of the digital catalog. Library staff Anuradha Nath interacted with the students. The students then visited the Observatory of the Institute of Geomagnetism where they learned about the equipment installed to measure the Earth’s magnetic field for various research purposes. Pijush kanti Das, officer-in-charge of the observatory, gave them an overview of the facility.

In the evening, visiting students’ team had interacted with the students of Assam University in the conference room of Physics Department. They were then taken to the Aryabhatta observatory on the roof of the department, where they observed the moon using telescopes. Research scholars Bhaskar Goswami, Biki Prasad, Bhaskar Jyoti Barman, Nirmal Barman along with other students of the Physics Department interacted with the students and explained the importance of Astronomy research in India. Finally, the guests visited the ‘War Museum,’ which contains many important stories and important information of Indian soldiers. Mr. Arijit Goswami interacted with the visitors and gave a brief overview of the museum

The visiting teachers praised the setting up of such an observatory in a remote place in the Northeast and commented that the students learned a lot during this three-hour trip. The program will continue until April 4, and it is expected that the students will have many more educational opportunities. After the tour, the students returned to NIT Silchar.
