Assam Govt issues new directive on Covid-19 for celebration of Republic Day

There shall be no involvement of school children in ceremonial parade of Republic Day

Jan. 22: Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has issued directives today for forthcoming Republic Day Celebration in the interest of containment of COVID-19 in the state of Assam. The salient features of today’s order are as follows:

  1. Republic Day programme will be limited to National Flag hoisting, speech by the guest of honour and ceremonial parade only. Other activities like cultural programme, award/ prize distribution arc to be avoided.
  2. The gathering for Republic Day programme may be limited to a maximum of 1000 for state level function in Kamrup (Metro) district, 500 for district level function and 200 for any other level.
  3. Pre and Post Republic Day programme may be avoided in view of the prevailing COVID situation in the state.
  4. There shall be no involvement of school children in ceremonial parade or march past. Only trained police, security personnel and Home guards who are fully vaccinated shall be allowed to participate in the ceremonial parade and march past.
