58 tests Covid +ve in Karimganj on Thursday, 180 discharged, 2 deaths registered

June 24: Karimganj registered 58 fresh COVID-19 cases on Thursday. The district has currently 829 active COVID-19 cases, while 180 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Thursday. 4,182 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 67 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Wednesday.

Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 23 June to 5 PM on 24 June) witnessed demise of 03 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Out of the 3 deceased, 02 are from Karimganj district and 01 from Cachar district.

The 02 deceased from Karimganj district were identified as:

  • Fakar Uddin (65) from Ramkrishnagar in Karimganj district was admitted at SMCH on 23 June. He, however, passed away at 10.45 PM on the same day, that is, 23 June.
  • Altaf Uddin (80) from Asimganj in Karimganj district was admitted at SMCH on 23 June. The patient died at 3.30 PM on 24 June.
