ওয়ে টু বরাক, ১৪ মার্চ : আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের কুড়ি তম সমাবর্তনের পোশাক নিয়ে বিভিন্ন সামাজিক মাধ্যম ও পত্রপত্রিকায় যেসব সংবাদ পরিবেশন করা হয়েছে তা সম্পূর্ণ ভিত্তিহীন ও অতিরঞ্জিত বলে দাবি করলেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় কর্তৃপক্ষ।

মঙ্গলবার বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে আয়োজিত সাংবাদিক সম্মেলনে উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক রাজীব মোহন পন্থ, নিবন্ধক ড. প্রদোষ কিরণ নাথ, বিত্ত আধিকারিক ড. শুভদীপ ধর, কলেজ ডেভেলপমেন্ট কাউন্সিলের ডিরেক্টর ড. জয়ন্ত ভট্টাচার্য, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ডিএসডবলু ড. অনিন্দ্য সেন, প্রক্টর ড. হিমাদ্রি শেখর দাস সহ অন্যান্য পদাধিকারীরা সমাবর্তন নিয়ে উত্থাপিত যাবতীয় অভিযোগ খণ্ডন করেন।

তাঁরা দাবি করেন, সমাবর্তন নিয়ে অযথা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ভাবমূর্তি ক্ষুণ্ন করার জন্য এধরনের মিথ্যে ও বিভ্রান্তিকর খবর প্রকাশ করা হয়েছে। প্রথমত, শুধুমাত্র পোশাক নিয়ে যে বিশাল অঙ্কের অর্থের কথা উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে, তার অর্ধেক অংশও পুরো সমাবর্তনেই ব্যয় হয়নি। তাছাড়া, অন্য বারের মতো এবারও কেন্দ্র সরকারের নির্দেশ অনুযায়ী এবং সরকারি গাইড লাইন মেনে যথারীতি “জেম”-এর মাধ্যমে পোশাক সরবরাহকারী সংস্থাকে বরাত দেওয়া হয়েছে।

সমাবর্তনের ফিজ নিয়ে নিবন্ধক জানান, অন্য বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় এর থেকে বেশি ফিজ আদায় করে থাকে। এ ক্ষেত্রে তিনি গৌহাটি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উদাহরণও উল্লেখ করেন। লখনউ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের লোগো থাকা উত্তরীয় নিয়ে সামাজিক মাধ্যমে ঝড় উঠলেও নিবন্ধক ডঃ নাথ সাফ জানান, এ ধরনের কোনও উত্তরীয় প্রদান করা হয়নি। এটা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়কে বদনাম করার অপচেষ্টা।

উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক পন্থ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বিভিন্ন উন্নয়নমূলক কার্যক্রমের বিবরণ তুলে ধরেন। উপাচার্য বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে গুণগত শিক্ষার উন্নয়নে গ্রহণ করা বিভিন্ন পদক্ষেপের কথা জানান।

Way2barak, 15 March : The news reported in different social media and newspapers about the 20th convocation dress of Assam University is completely baseless and exaggerated. This was informed by the Assam University authority in a press conference held at the university on Tuesday.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Rajeev Mohan Panth, Registrar Dr. Pradosh Kiran Nath, Finance Officer Dr. Shuvadeep Dhar, Director of College Development Council Jayanta Bhattacharjee Proctor Dr. Himadri Shekhar Das and other officials refused all the allegations raised about the convocation.

They claimed that such false and misleading news has been published to tarnish the image of the university unnecessarily. First of all, the huge amount of money mentioned on clothing alone, not even half of it was spent on the entire convocation. Moreover, like other times this time also as per the directives of the Central Government and following the Government guidelines as usual the company supplying garments through “GEM” had been cited.

Regarding the convocation fee, the Registrar said that other universities charge more than this. In this regard, he also mentioned the example of Gauhati University. In social media about the poster bearing the logo of Lucknow University, Registrar Dr. Nath said that no such Logo was provided. The total attempt was to defame the university.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Panth highlighted the details developmental activities of the University. He also informed about the various steps taken by the University to improve quality education in the University as well as to the affiliated colleges
