থানার ভেতরেই গুলি চালিয়ে এএসআইর আত্মহত্যা
On duty ASI commits suicide, shoots self at Silchar Sadar Police Station

ওয়েটুবরাক, ২১ মার্চ : থানার ভেতরেই নিজের সার্ভিস পিস্তল থেকে গুলি চালিয়ে আত্মহত্যা করলেন পুলিশের অ্যাসিস্ট্যান্ট সাব-ইন্সপেক্টর গৌরবিধু সিংহ| সোমবার বিকাল সোয়া তিনটায় শিলচর সদর থানায় সবাই যখন যার যার কাজ করছিলেন, তখনই আচমকা গুলির শব্দ৷ ঘটনাস্থলেই প্রাণ হারান ৫৩ বছর বয়সী এএসআই৷

খবর পেয়ে কাছাড়ের পুলিশ সুপার রমনদীপ কৌর শিলচর সদর থানায় ছুটে যান৷ তিনি বলেন, এটি আত্মহত্যারই ঘটনা৷ কিন্তু কেন তিনি এমনটা করলেন, এখনও বোঝা যাচ্ছে না৷ তদন্ত শুরু হয়েছে৷ ৫৩ বছর বয়সী এএসআই সিংহের বাড়ি একই জেলার ময়নারবন্দে৷ রেখে গিয়েছেন স্ত্রী ও তিন সন্তান৷ গৌরবিধু সিংহের দেহ ময়নাতদন্তের জন্য শিলচর মেডিক্যাল কলেজে পাঠানো হয়েছে৷

March 21: An on-duty Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Police shot himself with his service revolver inside Silchar Sadar Police Station at around 3,15 PM on Monday. This was confirmed by Superintendent of Police, Cachar, Ramandeep Kaur. The ASI was identified as Gaur Bidhu Singh, posted as Seristadar at Silchar Sadar Police Station.

He shot himself on his head while sitting at his chair. Gaur Bidhu Singh is a resident of Moynarbond area in Udharbond. On being informed, the family members of the deceased ASI rushed to Sadar Police Station. His body was later sent for autospy at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH).

Ramandeep Kaur, Superintendent of Police, Cachar also went to Sadar Police Station. Later on, expressing her views, SP Cachar said, “We are yet to ascertain the cause of his suicide. The legal formalities are being undertaken now.”

When asked about workplace pressure, the SP said, “Pressure of duty is prevalent everywhere. But there are ways and means to deal with pressure and committing suicide is definitely not one of it. He was a quiet and hard working person with no issues at work place. If it was any workplace related pressure, he ought to have talked about it, but that was not the case. Anyhow, we will investigate into the matter.”
