কালাইনছড়ায় বিনোদন, জলে নেমে নিখোঁজ তারাপুরের যুবক
Youth from Silchar drowns at Kalain while on merry-making with friends

ওয়েটুবরাক, ২৫ জুলাইঃ অবসর কাটাতে কালাইনছড়ায় গিয়েছিলেন শিলচরের একদল যুবক। জলকেলির মধ্যে নিখোঁজ হয়ে যান এক যুবক। সঙ্গীরা জানিয়েছেন, নিখোঁজ যুবকের নাম রোহিত সাহা ওরফে বিকি।

বাড়ি তারাপুর শিববাড়ি এলাকায়। বহু সময় ধরে জলে খোঁজাখুজি করলেও তার সন্ধান মেলেনি। সোমবার সকালেই এসডিআরএফ একুশ বছর বয়সী যুবকের সন্ধানে অভিযানে নামবে।

এলাকাবাসীর অভিযোগ, করোনা বিধি উপেক্ষা করেই শিলচর শহর সহ বিভিন্ন এলাকা থেকে যুবক-যুবতীরা কালাইনছড়া বাগান এলাকায় ভিড় জমান। খরস্রোতা নদীতে নেমে আনন্দে মেতে ওঠেন তাঁরা। এরই পরিণতিতে ঘটে প্রাণহানির ঘটনা। গত বছরও কালাইনছড়া ঝুলন সেতুর নীচে পাহাড়ি জলস্রোতে মৃত্যু ঘটেছিল এক যুবকের।

July 25: In what seems to be a tragic incident, a group of around 12 youths went for merry-making at Kalain. As per reports, the group of friends ‘getting bored’ due to prolonged lockdown like situation went for outing. On reaching Kalaincherra, they were amazed to see the stream there beneath the hanging bridge. One of them, a 21-year-old youth, Rohit Saha from Tarapur, Silchar plunged into the stream to take a bath. However, due to heavy current in the river, he lost his control and drowned.

At once, his friends raised a hue and cry. There were many other people nearby who too had gone there for fun. But due to strong current in the stream, it was not possible for them to search Rohit. Meanwhile, the SDRF was called, but by the time they reached the spot it was almost dusk. As such, they would begin the search operation on Monday morning.

People of the locality have expressed displeasure to the fact that off and on, people in large numbers, especially the youths flock together at Kalain and try to make fun in the stream resulting in fatal mishaps. Last year too, a youth drowned there and lost his life.
