World No-Tobacco day observed in Cachar
way2barak, June1: World No-Tobacco Day was observed at Silchar Cancer Centre, ACCF & District Tobacco Control Cell, Cachar on Friday with a call to avoid tobacco consumption and production for the protection of environment.
This year theme was “Protecting Children From Tobacco Industry Interference”.
While speaking on this year’s theme of the No-Tobacco day ,the director of Silchar Cancer centre, Dr T. Kannan said that the environmental impact that the world sustains in growing a single tobacco plant or producing a single cigarette. He asked everyone to quit using all forms of tobacco so that the planet Earth is saved from environmental catastrophe .
Director T .Kannan urged everyone to create awareness amongst society against tobacco consumption.
Talking at the event ,Dr. Ahimik Biswas also underscored the necessities of creating awareness against tobacco and it’s harmful impacts on human health.
He spoke at length on Pre-oral cancer its symptoms and emphasized on the diagnosis process. He also laid stretch on organising community outreach programs for creating awareness in early diagnosis and detection of cancer.
Later, a pledge was also taken on the occasion at the hospital campus for quitting tobacco in and outside the hospital premises and help public also in quitting tobacco from life.
Earlier, an anti-tobacco rally was flagged off by the Dr Phulkumari Talukdar .
The program was also attended by the doctors, staff and Abhijit Bhattacharjee (DHM, SCC) with administrative staffs of hospitals.
