Workshop cum training programme of the wholesalers and retailers of fertilizers held in Silchar
Oct. 17: A workshop cum training programme of the wholesalers and retailers of fertilizers functioning in the district was organised by the Cachar Agriculture Department at the conference hall of District Agriculture Office, Silchar on Saturday. The training programme was attended by 39 wholesalers and retailers, apart from the departmental experts and BVFCL officials. Additional Deputy Commissioner Sumit Sattawan attended the technical session of the training programme.
The programme started with an introductory speech by District Agriculture Officer L.I Singh. Welcoming the participants, the District Agriculture Officer briefed the house about the aims and objectives of the one-day programme organised by the department and stressed upon the applicability and carry out the fertilizer business by both wholesalers and retailers under the purview of fertilizer control order of 1985 along with its follow up guidelines and instructions issued by both the central and state government from time to time. It was also pointed out that any deviation and lapses on the part of wholesalers and retailers will attract serious consequences.
During the workshop cum training programme, discussion was also held regarding operation and use of POS machines and cashless digital transaction at the retail outlets through QR code, UPI, Google Pay etc. Emphasis was laid on the Fertilizer Control Order,1985 and it’s legal aspects. It was stated that the sale of control fertilizer at the retail outlets should be done only after proper identification of the buyer, as per the guidelines, so as to facilitate identification of buyers by the government agency. Practical demonstration on POS device was also given during the training programme.
During the technical session, Sumit Sattawan, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Cachar cum CEO Silchar Municipal Board (SMB) discussed about the marketing aspects of organic manure to be produced by utilisation of organic town waste on convergence with the fertilizer wholesalers and retailers.
