Women’s College Silchar reaccredited with ‘B’ grade by NAAC

way2barak, MAY 31: Success is all about making continuous progress and in a positive development, Women’s College Silchar has been successfully reaccredited ‘B’ grade with a CGPA of 2.39 on a 5-point scale by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) after the Peer team inspected the college through virtual platform during a two-day programme that ended on May 20.

The result of the evaluation was announced and communicated to the college authority on May 29 via an email.

Dr Sujit Tewari, principal of the college has thanked the teaching, non-teaching staff, members of the Governing Body, students and members of the college Alumni association and even guardians for their support and efforts in making the crucial evaluation successful. Established in 1963, the college is affiliated to Assam University Silchar for the TDC and FYUG syllabus while it adheres to the Assam State Secondary Education Board for the Higher Secondary classes. The college’s first NAAC accreditation took place in 2006, when it was awarded a C++ grade, followed by a ‘B’ grade in 2011.

“After a long interval of 14 years, this renewed recognition marks a significant milestone in our journey towards academic excellence and institutional development. This achievement is the result of the collective efforts of all teaching and non-teaching staff, and also of those who served the institution in earlier years. Women’s College, Silchar since its establishment has been one of the best institutions dedicated to empowerment of women through education, and this accreditation further validates our commitment to that cause,” Dr Tewari said.

Dr Santanu Das, vice principal cum coordinator of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the college has expressed his happiness over the progress made by the college in the evaluation. Women’s College Silchar is perhaps the first college in the state which had the NAAC Peer Team visit via the virtual mode.
