With 78 more Covid-19 +ve cases, day’s total in Cachar rises to 154 on Friday; 4 deaths at SMCH

April 30: The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Friday at 10.30 PM. As per the latest data, 78 more persons were detected as coronavirus positive during the day. With this, a total of 154 persons were found positive in the district on 30 April. This is the highest single day spike in 2021. Earlier, at 7 PM, it was informed that 76 persons were found positive. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has now gone up to 530. It needs mention here that the total number of positive cases detected on Thursday was 108.

As per the updated data, a total of 1,980 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, a total of 73  persons were found positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), whereas 81 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed, District Surveillance Officer (DSO), IDSP, Cachar on Friday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus cases has gone upto 12,744. Again, 12,068 patients till now were cured and discharged.

Apart from This Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed informed that out of the 530 active patients, 67 of them are admitted at SMCH, 22 in MH, 16 at SMDCH, 30 at Green Heals Pvt Hospital, 02 at CRPF Doyapur and 08 at Gracewell Nursing Home. Further, 385 patients are in home isolation.

In an alarming development, two more Covid-19 positive patients died on Friday at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) taking the death toll during the day to 04.

• Debashish Deb (65) from Ambicapatty, Silchar was admitted at SMCH on 26 April. He expired at 7.30 PM on 30 April, 2021.
• Jalal Uddin Barbhuiya (80) from Bihara Part-I in Cachar was admitted at SMCH on 28 April. He died at 7.15 PM on Friday.
• Moni Rani Das (65) from Trunk Road, Police Quarters, Silchar was admitted at SMCH on 24 April after testing Covid positive. She, however, died on 30 April at 8.15 AM.
• Pappu Nath (26) from Katlicherra in Hailakandi also took admission at SMCH  on 22 April. He breathed his last at 5.15 PM on 30 April.

As per protocol, their death details have been forwarded to the State Death Audit Board in Guwahati for final certification of Covid or non-Covid death.
