With 7 more Covid +ve cases, day’s total in Cachar rises to 24 on 8 August, 2 deaths at SMCH
Active cases 228 in Cachar; 40 discharged on Sunday
Aug 8: The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Sunday at 11.15 PM. As per the latest data, 07 more persons were detected as Coronavirus positive during the day. With this, a total of 24 persons were found positive in the district on 8 August. Earlier, at 6 PM, it was informed that 17 persons were found positive. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has gone down to 228. This was informed by District Media Expert on Sunday night. Also, 40 patients were discharged during the day. It needs mention here that on Saturday, 35 persons were detected as Covid-19 positive in Cachar.
Further, during the day, 2,499 people were vaccinated in Cachar district.
As per the updated data, a total of 3,735 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 15 persons were found positive, whereas 09 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 19,313 whereas during this phase, 18,898 patients were discharged.

00 at Gracewell Nursing Home

00 at Jivan Jyoti Hospital
19 at Chotodudpatil Model Hospital
06 Palonghat Model Hospital
83 patients are in home isolation.
The Covid-19 situation in gradually is gradually improving. There has been substantial decline in the number of daily positive cases. However, the last 24 hours (5 PM on 7 August to 5 PM on 8 August) witnessed the death of 02 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Sunday evening. The deceased were identified as:
- Srinath Chouhan (75) from Sibergul in Karimganj district was admitted at SMCH on 5 August, 2021. He, however, breathed his last at 7.30 PM on 7 August, 2021.
- Promod Ranjan Das (70) from Salchapra Part-II in Cachar district was admitted at SMCH also on 8 August. She died at 12.45 PM on 8 August, 2021.
Dr. Bhaskar Gupta further informed that till 5 PM of 8 August, a total of 61 active coronavirus patients are admitted at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), out of which, 21 of them are in Covid ward and 40 at ICU. Out of them 48 patients are in oxygen support and 06 are in ventilation. In last 24 hours, 09 new patients were admitted whereas, 06 of them were discharged at SMCH.
