With 16 more Covid +ve cases, day’s total in Cachar rises to 56 on 5 July, 4 deaths at SMCH
Active cases 457 in Cachar; 100 discharged on Monday
July 5: The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Monday at 11.10 PM. As per the latest data, 16 more persons were detected as coronavirus positive during the day. With this, a total of 56 persons were found positive in the district on 5 July. Earlier, at 6 PM, it was informed that 40 persons were found positive. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has come down to 457. This was informed by District Media Expert on Monday night. Also, 100 patients were discharged during the day. It needs mention here that on Sunday, 41 persons were detected as Covid-19 positive in Cachar.
As per the updated data, a total of 4,983 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 40 persons were found positive, whereas 16 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 17,899, whereas during this phase, 17,272 patients were discharged.
Apart from this, the district authority informed that out of the 457 active patients:

13 at Green Heals Pvt Hospital
10 at CRPF Doyapur
00 at Gracewell Nursing Home
08 at Cachar Cancer Hospital
00 at Valley Hospital
00 at South City Hospital
02 at Chibitabichia Model Hospital
06 at Jivan Jyoti Hospital
28 at Chotodudpatil Model Hospital
09 Palonghat Model Hospital
211 patients are in home isolation.
Though the number of Covid-19 positive cases in Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam has considerably decreased, yet incidents of death of Covid positive patients are still reported from the three districts of Southern Assam. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 4 July to 5 PM on 5 July) witnessed demise of 04 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Out of the four deceased, two of them are from Cachar, one from Hailakandi and another one from Karimganj.
The deceased were identified as M Haloi (35) from Patherkandi in Karimganj district, Gopa Dam (61) from Das Colony in Silchar, Hirendra Singha (75) from Kolarpar in Hailakandi district and Misbahuddin Choudhury (72) from Kazidohore Part 3 in Cachar district was admitted at SMCH on 30 June. He died at 8.45 AM on 5 July.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 5 July, there were 115 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 53 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 62 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 13 patients were put under ventilator support and 77 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 14 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 19 of them were discharged.
