With 144 more Covid +ve cases, day’s total in Cachar rises to 536 on 26 May

Active cases 2,733 in Cachar; 372 patients discharged on Tuesday

May 26: The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Wednesday at 10.50 PM. As per the latest data, 144 more persons were detected as coronavirus positive during the day. With this, a total of 536 persons were found positive in the district on 26 May. Earlier, at 6 PM, it was informed that 388 persons were found positive. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 2,733. Also, 278 patients were discharged during the day. It needs mention here that the total number of positive cases detected on Tuesday was 602.

As per the updated data, a total of 7,180 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 379 persons were found positive, whereas 157 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Wednesday night. With this, the total number of Covid cases in 2021 reached 8,076 in 2021, whereas during the year, 5,281 patients were discharged.

Apart from this, Suman Choudhury informed that out of the 2,733 active patients:

  • 296 of them are admitted at SMCH
  • 14 at MH
  • 45 at SMDCH
  • 42 at Green Heals Pvt Hospital
  • 13 at CRPF Doyapur
  • 23 at Gracewell Nursing Home
  • 15 at Cachar Cancer Hospital
  • 24 at Valley Hospital
  • 25 at South City Hospital
  • 00 at Jivan Jyoti Hospital
  • 31 at Chotodudpatil Model Hospital
  • 2,203 patients are in home isolation.

Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours witnessed demise of 10 more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), 01 at Green Heals and the other at Gracewell Hospital. This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board as per the protocol. Out of the 10 deceased, 07 are from Cachar district, 01 from Karimganj & 02 from Hailakandi.

The deceased were identified as Rekha Acharjee (66) from Ghungoor, Cachar, Johura Begum Barbhuiyan (60) from Baskal in Dholai, Cachar, Prottush Nath (53) from Jaroiltola in Borkhala, Cachar, Sandhya Rani Das (74) from Bazaricherra in Karimganj district, Abdul Rouf Choudhury (67) from Algapur in Hailakandi, Rubi Barman from PHE Campus quarter at Silchar Medical, Ayesha Begum Laskar (60) from Dakhhin Mohanpur in Hailakandi district, Nikunja Singha (58) from Dudhpur in Cachar, Milon Rani Das (60) from Rajpur in Katigorah, Cachar and N. Bimal Singh (52) from Binnakandi (Kaptanpur) in Cachar.

Pijush Kanti Chanda (80) from Ambicapatty, Silchar was admitted at Green Heals Pvt Hospital, Silchar. He, however, passed away at 7.15 PM on 26 May. Fayaz Uddin Barbhuiya (64) from Kanakpur, Part-I, Silchar was admitted at Gracewell Hospital, Silchar on 25 May. The patient passed away at 9.57 PM on 26 May.
