Water levels are rising across the district & more rainfall is predicted tonight: DC Cachar
May 18: Due to heavy rainfall for last few days, the water level of river Barak and its tributaries have been increasing alarmingly and daily new areas/ villages are inundated by the flood water and people of this district are coming under the grasp of flood. The water also over-topped in some of the places of the embankments.
Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli said,U”nder such devastating conditions, the people must be aware and for the same you are requested to make necessary arrangement for miking in the different areas of this district for public not to step out of their homes until & unless absolutely essential. Awareness among populace can be generated to stay indoors unless in need of emergency services. Further, in case of any emergency anyone can inform District Emergency Operation Centre in the Toll-Free Number-1077.”
In a video message, DC Jalli further said, “Request public to stay indoors and not to step out of their houses as water levels are rising across the district and more rainfall is predicted tonight. Those whose houses have been inundated may kindly approach their nearest Relief Camps.”
