Water level of major rivers of Barak Valley at a glance

May 20: Due to incessant rainfall since the last few days, the water level of river Barak started to rise. However,  after around 15 hours of remaining steady, the water level at Annapurna Ghat was gradually decreasing.The water level of river Barak here gradually started to decrease by 1 cm per hour from 9 AM on Friday. However at 4 PM, the level was reported to be steady. Again, it started to decrease at 8 PM.

As per report received from Assam Water Resource Department, river Barak at Annapurna Ghat, Silchar at 8 PM on Friday was flowing much above the danger level and was recorded at 21.24 metres. The danger level at this point is 19.83 metre. The water level is decreasing at 1 cm per hour. The highest flood level at this point was recorded at 21.763 on 11 September, 2007.

  • Again, the water level of Barak at Lakhipur on 20 May (at 6 PM) was 21.25 metres as against the danger level of 23.88 metres. The water level is decreasing here by 1 cm per hour
  • The water level of River Rukni at Dholai on 20 May (at 6 PM) was 24.56 metres as against the danger level of 24.58 metres. The water level is decreasing slowly
  • The water level of River Sonai at Amraghat on 20 May (at 6 PM) was 23.33 metres as against the danger level of 26.96 metres. The water level is decreasing
  • The water level of River Dholeswari at Gharmura on 20 May (at 6 PM) was 24.79 metres as against the danger level of 28.05 metres. The water level is rising slowly.
  • The water level of River Katakhal at Matijuri on 20 May (at 6 PM) was 19.51 metres as against the danger level of 20.27 metres. The water level is steady
  • The water level of River Kushiyara at Karimganj on 20 May (at 6 PM) was 15.35 metres as against the danger level of 14.94 metres. The water level is static here.
