Water level of Barak at Annapurna Ghat stands at 20.03 mt at 2 PM on Sunday, trend steady
May 15: Though due to incessant rainfall since the last few days, the water level of river Barak started to increase, however, since Sunday morning, there were some relief as River Barak at Annapurna Ghat, Silchar started to show a decreasing trend.
As per report received from Assam Water Resource Department, river Barak at Annapurna Ghat, Silchar at 2 PM on Sunday was flowing much above the danger level and was recorded at 20.04 metre. The danger level at this point is 19.83 metre. The water level was steady at this point since 1 PM on Sunday. Prior to that, water level went up to 20.17 mts at 2 AM.
Meanwhile, The MET department has predicted widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning and heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over the Northeast. As per weather forecast, on Sunday, very heavy rain is expected over parts of Assam & Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura.
