Water level of Barak at Annapurna Ghat rising, reaches 21.01 mt at 2 AM on Wednesday
May 17: Though due to incessant rainfall since the last few days, the water level of river Barak started to increase, however, since Monday night, there were some relief as River Barak at Annapurna Ghat, Silchar started to show a steady trend. However, from 6 PM on Tuesday, the water level at Annapurna Ghat was reported to steady. The water level there came down by 1 cm at 11 PM, whereas, at midnight, it was reported to be steady. However, at 1 AM on Wednesday, the water level again started to increase by 1 cm per hour.
As per report received from Assam Water Resource Department, river Barak at Annapurna Ghat, Silchar at 2 AM on Wednesday was flowing much above the danger level and was recorded at 21.01 metres. The danger level at this point is 19.83 metre. The water level was was rising by 2 cm per hour. This is the highest level of water (21.01 mt) at Annapurna Ghat recorded this year.
The highest flood level at this point was recorded at 21.763 on 11 September, 2007.
