Water level of Barak at Annapurna Ghat increasing, flowing at 19.71 mt at 2 PM on Sunday
July 3: Due to incessant rainfall since the last few days, the water level of river Barak crossed the danger level on 18 June. However, after 13 days, at 3 PM on 1 July, the water level came down below danger level. But due to heavy rainfall on Saturday night, the water level of river Barak, started to rise once again. From 1 AM on Sunday, the water level of Barak went up from 19.29 mt to 19.71 mt.
As per report received from Assam Water Resource Department, river Barak at Annapurna Ghat, Silchar at 2 PM on Sunday, was flowing below the danger level and was recorded at 19.71 metres. The danger level at this point is 19.83 metre. The water level is rising by 2 cm per hour. As per forecast, the water level of Barak at Annapurna Ghat is supposed to cross the danger level of 19.71 mt and reach 19.97 mt by Sunday night.
The highest flood level at this point was recorded at 21.763 on 11 September, 2007.
