War of words between Dilip Ghosh & Babul Supriyo on the later’s ‘asked to resign’ remark
July 8: In a latest war of words between two BJP leaders, a virtual clash seems to have emanated. West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh on Thursday hit back at party leader Babul Supriyo, who was recently “asked to resign” as a Union minister.
Ahead of the Cabinet expansion on Wednesday, several Union ministers have submitted their resignations. Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Babul Supriyo took to announce his decision on Facebook that he was asked to quit. In a post on Facebook, the former Minister of State said he is “extremely happy” that he left the stint “without a spot of corruption on me”. Mr Supriyo congratulated some leaders from Bengal who are going to be part of the refreshed Union cabinet, and added – “I am surely sad for myself.”
Without naming anyone, Ghosh said that of the 12 ministers who resigned on Wednesday, only he (Supriyo) had made such remarks indicating his displeasure with the decision of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership. Ghosh added, “If he were to be fired instead, would that have made things any better?”
Babul Supriyo, however, later took to Facebook later to clarify that,”Yes, I have resigned from the Council Of Ministers (As I had framed it earlier, “Asked to resign” may not be the right way to put it )I thank Honble Prime Minister for giving me the privilege to serve my country as a Member of his Council of Ministers..”
