Voter awareness among first time female voters in Hailakandi
March 15: To enhance voter awareness in Hailakandi election district among the first time female voters, the SVEEP Cell organised a voter awareness programme at Hailakandi Women’s Senior Secondary School here on Monday. At the function, voter citations to the first time voters were distributed.
Cell In-charge cum Assistant Commissioner Sari L. Lungtau and other members created awareness among the young voters to assert their democratic right by exercising their franchise in the upcoming Assembly election. Oath was also administered to the young voters on the occasion.
Principal of the college, Nandini Mazumder exhorted upon the girl students to vote on April 1. Faculty of the college, Tirthankar Chakravorty appreciated the mascot sparrow unveiled by the district election authorities to motivate the voters to turnout in large numbers on the polling day. Cell members, Shankar Choudhury, Bijoyini Bhattacharjee and Prasenjit Biswas apprised the first time voters on a gamut of matters related to registering of vote on EVM and maintaining COVID protocols.
