Viral message of “release of water from Manipur” is FAKE: Dist Administration Cachar

June 28: Just when the people of Silchar were trying to come out of the traumatised situation caused by the disastrous flood, a message is circulated in social media platforms, where the residents were warned about “release of water from Manipur”. The people of Silchar in that viral message were asked to move to higher places. However, contradicting this claim, District Administration Cachar clarified that this is a “FAKE information.

The viral message in social media stated, “The administration is making an announcement in the town that everyone should stay at home or move to higher places as water from Manipur will be released anytime now and water level will increase. Stay safe everyone.” The district administration clarified that this in indeed a “FAKE message” and people should not fall a victim to such false information.

One of the netizens expressing anger and urged upon the district administration to take stringent action against such elements who at this hour of crisis are busy spreading fake information. The netizen wrote, “Who are these people? Kindly take proper action against them.”
