3,650 tests Covid-19 +ve in Assam on Sunday, 4,225 discharged & 56 deaths registered

May 16: On Sunday, out of 42,884 tests, 3,650 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 3,28,629. The positivity rate in the state is 8.51 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 1,197 positive cases during the day. Further, on Sunday, 56 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 2,179.

It needs mention here that on Saturday, 5,347 persons tested positive in Assam and 63 deaths were registered.

On Sunday, 4,225 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 2,81,726 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged from various hospitals and Covid Care centres across the state. This was confirmed in a tweet by NHM, Assam. The recovery rate in the state is 85.73 percent. At present, there are 43,377 active cases in the state.

Further, during the day,56 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 56 deceased, 13 are from Kamrup Metro; 5 from Udalguri; 4 each from Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Kamrup Rural & Sonitpur; 3 each from Cachar, Golaghat & Karbi Anglong; 2 each from Darrang Hojai & Tinsukia, 1 each from Baksha, Barpeta, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Lakhimpur, Nagaon & Nalbari. The death tally of the state now stands at 2,179.
