Validity of driving license, vehicle registration extended by the centre till 31 March, 2021

Dec. 27: The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has extended the validity of vehicular documents like Driving Licences, Registration Certificates, Permits etc. till 31 March, 2021. Earlier, the Government had extended the date from 30 September 30 to 31 December, 2020.

The validity extension will apply to all documents that were supposed to expire on February 1, 2020, and those that would expire by March 31, 2021.

Now the state/UTs have also been requested to consider provisions available under the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, or other such provisions available under other acts, for consideration for the purpose of relaxation in requirement of a permit, or fees or taxes for renewal/penalty for permits, in order to provide relief during these COVID-19.

It needs mention here that this is the 4th time that the centre has extended the validity of important documents in view of the Covid-19 situation in the country.
