Upskilling Students’ Bazaar programme in Ramanuj Gupta Degree College.
Way2barak, March 18 : Keeping in mind the parameters of upcoming National Education Policy, to promote entrepreneurship, marketing ability and self-help group culture, a day long Students’ Bazaar programme was organised on15th March 2023 in the campus of Ramanuj Gupta Degree College. The students of degree college enthusiastically responded to the initiative of IQAC of the college. The students of different semesters came up with 30 stalls, installed with the application of their imagination and creative talent which could attract a good number of visitors who were found busy in buying the different food items ranging from traditional cuisines to baked and cooked items of their displayed stalls. Side by side with food items, there were the stalls for home decoratives, wall paintings, posters, jewelleries, self-made t-shirts etc. The programme was anchored by Debopriya Dhar, a student of 2nd semester Arts of the college.
The day long bazaar programme was inaugurated by Mr. Rudra Narayan Gupta, President of Ramanuj Gupta Memorial Charitable Trust. In his inaugural speech, Mr. Gupta said, “This bazaar programme is just a beginning” and within a short span of time, the teachers of degree college, particularly the two teacher conveners, Mr. Sujit Sarkar and Miss Susweta Sinha have taken initiative along with their colleagues and this effort could be acknowledged as a benchmark programme in the domain of SHG. Mr. Gupta also appreciated all the teachers and particularly the students of the college for this unique endeavour and he hopes that in the coming years more and more organised programmes of this nature would be held in a more concerted manner.
This students’ bazaar programme is perhaps the first of its kind in the college level in Barak valley. Another significant part of the programme was lectures organised by the college. The invited resource persons who talked on entrepreneurship SHG and market ability are Dr. Soma Dey Roy Choudhury of Assam University, Commerce Department, Dr. Saurav Verma of the MBA Department, NIT Silchar and Prof. Joydeep Bhattacharjee, HoD, Commerce, Gurucharan College, Silchar. In the context of present system of education, this kind of upskilling of the students at the UG level is very important to impart practical knowledge for having primary interest for future employability and self-sustainability in the domain of Marketing, entrepreneurship and skill-based work as said by Dr. Dipankar Kar, Director of Ramanuj Gupta Degree College.
On behalf of the college, the provision for competition among the students participating in this programme was also kept by the college. The three distinguished guest speakers of Commerce and Management visited each stall and evaluated the merits of participants in the domain of Creativity and Marketing and SHG Culture and Revenue generation etc. In the category of Creativity and Marketing, Stall No 14 of Shivaditya Dasgupta, Aryaman Bhura and Luv Sarda was the best. In the category of Entrepreneurship and Revenue generation, Stall No. 4 represented by Mayurakshi Das, Solanki Dhar, Reshmi Deb and Nasreen Sultana bagged the best in prize. In SHG category, Nargis Sultana Laskar, Ankita Dey, Nazleen Parvin Barbhuiya and Naseema Akhtar Barbhuiya of Stall No 18 were adjudged as the best group.
Another enlightening part of the programme was the falicitation given by the Ramanuj Gupta Memorial Charitable Trust to Mr. Arijit Aditya, Editor, Bartalipi, Mr. Debasish Das of Rubika Commercial Enterprise and Dr. Gongesh Bhattacharjee, Head of the Department of History, Jagannath Singh College, Udharbond. The Principal of the college Dr. Anjana Bhattacharjee congratulated all the teachers and staff of the college for their active participation in making a day long Students’ Bazaar programme meaningful and successful. In the valedictory session, certificates were handed over to the winners by Trustee Dr. Tanusree Deb Gupta and the President Mr. Rudra Narayan Gupta. The final remark of Dr. Tanusree Deb Gupta about the programme was, “An Amazing One.”
