May 18: Once again two persons were tested positive in Cachar district. Sharing this information, State Health Minister. Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “Alert ~ Two persons of Cachar district have tested #COVID19 positive.” However, as per preliminary information, both of them came to Assam from outside and were in quarantine centres. One of them, a 18-year old boy came from Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh. He is originally a resident of Karimganj district, but was quarantined in Cachar. The other positive case is a 20-years old youth, who came from West Bengal. He is learnt to be a resident of Kajidohar in Cachar district. He was also in the quarantine centre.

This would take the total tally of Cachar district to 14, though out of 14, one person was already discharged. That means in Cachar, there are now a total of 13 active cases who are all under treatment at SMCH. Whereas, in Assam, the total number has increased to 106.
