Unvaccinated students will be allowed to take the 10th and 12th board exams

Feb. 10: High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary (HS) exam will be held from mid-March, 2022 in Assam. It was earlier stated by the Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma that all students appearing in these two examinations should get themselves vaccinated prior to the commencement of the exam. However, on Thursday, the Chief Minister while speaking with the media stated that even unvaccinated students will be allowed to take the 10th and 12th board exams.

An official of the education department informed that they cannot stop unvaccinated students from appearing in exams as the Union government has told the Supreme Court that the vaccine is voluntary. However, the Education Department at the same time urged upon the students to get themselves vaccinated at the earliest for their better interest. However, an official notification in this connection is still awaited.

Sources in the Education Department revealed that 18 percent of the students in the age group of 15 to 18 years have been fully vaccinated in the state. Over 90 per cent of the students in this age group have been administered with the first dose.
