Unique mask developed by Class XII student in West Bengal, claims it can kill coronavirus
May 14: Amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, researchers round the globe are striving hard to find a total solution to eradicate this deadly virus. It is in this backdrop that a Class XII student, Digantika Bose from West Bengal’s Purba Bardhaman district has made an innovative mask, which she claimed is capable of killing the coronavirus.
In an interview to the news websites, Digantika said her mask has three chambers. There is a negative ion generator that filters the dust particles in the air. When the filtered air enters through the second chamber, it reaches the third one which is a chemical chamber containing a mixture of soap and water — which she said could kill the virus. as soap water kills the virus, Digantika said when the air reaches the third chamber, the chemical solution has the potential to kill the virus.
Digantika also said, “If a Covid positive patient uses the mask, the air they exhale will go through a similar process and it can prevent the spread of the virus.” She has approached the state health department for trials on the mask and it could be a potential barrier against the spread of Covid-19. However, her claim of the mask being capable of killing coronavirus is not yet scientifically proven.
