ULFA(I) denies involvement in train explosion
December 2: The outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) categorically denied its involvement in the blast which took place inside a compartment of Kamakhya-Dekargaon Intercity Express.The explosion occurred near Harisinga Railway Station in Udalguri district of Assam at about 7 pm on Saturday evening.
A press release in this regard was issued to the media on Sunday by Rumel Asom, member of the outfit’s publicity wing, wherein they have denied their involvement in the blast. The proscribed militant outfit, through the release, has vehemently condemned the incident and also wished speedy recovery of those injured in the bomb blast.
ULFA-I further alleged that “the BJP-RSS is trying to create communal tension and religious polarization”and accused the Sarbananda Sonowal-led Government in Assam of hatching a “conspiracy” under the “patronage” of the BJP-RSS.
Meanwhile, prima facie evidence led the police to suspect that the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) that was already kept on the train which injured, many people.
