UK returned couple tests positive in Assam
Dec. 28: A new strain of coronavirus found in the United Kingdom (UK) has become a major cause of concern. Many nations including India has suspended all flights to & fro from the UK.
Meanwhile, a couple who returned from London to Golaghat in Assam tested COVID-19 positive on Monday. This has resulted in a panic. However, their genome sequencing tests will be done now to ascertain the presence of the new strain of coronavirus.
In order to detect the presence of the new strain of coronavirus, genome sequencing tests are being done. Chief of India’s Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) informed that 24 hours time is needed to trace the mutant strain of the new coronavirus.
Infact, six labs across India are set to conduct the genome sequencing tests to find out the presence of the new mutant strain of the coronavirus. The samples of passengers who tested COVID positive after arriving from the UK are being sent to these labs.
