Truck with banner of flood relief used to transport ‘illegal fertiliser’, 2 arrested

July 16: A truck has been seized a truck loaded with suspected illegal fertilizers from Katigorah’s Digorhal Combined check gate. The driver and the handyman of the truck bearing No. AS-01NC 7027 were arrested.

As per reports, the truck affixed a banner, which read “On Flood Relief Duty under Cachar, Silchar.” The driver produced a challan which stated that the truck contained onions, whereas the driver on being asked at the check gate said that the truck contained relief materials (potato & onion) for flood victims. However, on suspicion, when the truck was searched, multiple sacks of suspected illegal fertilizers were found hidden beneath onion sacks.

This led to the arrest of the driver and the handyman of the vehicle. At present, thesy are being interrogated by Kalain Police.
