Tripura Univ cancels TDC 2nd, 4th sem exam, students to be promoted on previous sem performance
Final semester exam to be held once situation normalises
June 13: When Assam University is busy issuing numerous notifications specifying time schedule for conduct of TDC examinations, another neighbouring central university has come up with a notification keeping in view the present pandemic situation. On 12 June, 2020, Deputy Registrar (Examination) of Tripura University in a notification stated that examination for students of intermediate semesters (2nd & 4th semesters) has been cancelled. The students will, however, be promoted to the next semester on the basis of their performance in the previous semester.
In the notification, it was stated that 2nd semester students will be promoted to 3rd semester by considering 80% marks from 1st semester result status and rest 20% will be taken from current 2nd semester’s internal marks. Similarly 4th semester students will be promoted by considering their 3rd semester’s result.
As regards the final semester (6th) examination, the notification stated that, “The Examinations will be held as usual mode after lockdown is lifted completely and when situation is conducive to hold the examinations following social distancing norms prescribed by the Central./State Government from time to time.”
When asked by our correspondent, Chandan Pal Choudhury, Central Executive Member of ACTA Cachar Zone said, “This is what any reasonable authority will decide. You just cannot ignore the ground reality. I really fail to understand why the exam branch of Assam University is up and doing to conduct the examination now ignoring all pleas made by the stakeholders thereby jeopardising the life and career of the thousands. It’s only after ACTA in a press meet on Friday brought before all the faulty steps of the exam branch of Assam University, that they hurriedly deferred the non-CBCS exam on Saturday. I thank the Tripura University authority for this step.”
