উৎকণ্ঠার মধ্যেই তৃণমূল প্রতিনিধিরা পৌছলেন তিনসুকিয়ায়TMC delegation reaches Tinsukia, meets family of the victims
আসলে তৃণমূল নেতাদের অসম সফর নিয়ে রাজনৈতিক মহলে একটা উৎকণ্ঠা ছিল। কারণ অসমের জাতীয় নাগরিকপঞ্জির চূড়ান্ত খসড়া প্রকাশ হওয়ার পর তালিকা থেকে বাদ পড়া ৪০ লক্ষ মানুষের পাশে দাঁড়াতে গত ২ আগস্ট তৃণমূল সাংসদ ও বিধায়কদের এক প্রতিনিধি দল শিলচর এসেছিলেন। সে যাত্রায় তাদের সফর মোটেই সুখকর হয়নি। অজানা আশঙ্কায় প্রশাসন ও পুলিশ তাদের বিমানবন্দর থেকেই ফিরিয়ে দিয়েছিল।
রবিবার তিনসুকিয়ার উদ্দেশে আসা এই দলে রয়েছেন তিন সাংসদ ও এক বিধায়ক। রাজ্যসভার এই তিন সাংসদ হলেন ডেরেক ও’ব্রায়েন, মমতা বালা ঠাকুর ও নাদিমুল হক। রয়েছেন বিধায়ক মহুয়া মিত্রও। সকাল ৭টা ৫০ মিনিটে ডিব্রুগড় বিমানবন্দরে তাঁরা নামেন। তবে তাদের এখানে কেউ বাধা দেয়নি। বরং গন্তব্যে পৌছুতে তাদের সাহায্য করে পুলিশ। তাদের সফরকে কেন্দ্র করে সকাল থেকেই প্রচুর সংখ্যায় নিরাপত্তা রক্ষী মোতায়েন করা হয়েছিল। পুলিশ সূত্রে জানা যায়, সাংসদ ডেরেক ও’ব্রায়েনের নেতৃত্বে দলটি ৮টা ১০ মিনিটে বিমানবন্দর ছেড়ে বেরিয়ে আসেন। এরপর তাঁরা সড়কপথে তিনসুকিয়ার পথে রওনা দেন।
দু’ঘন্টা সড়কপথে গিয়ে সকাল ১০টা নাগাদ প্রতিনিধিরা পৌছেন তিনসুকিয়ার ধলার খেরবাড়িতে। সেখানেই তাঁরা নিহত ৫ বাঙালির পরিবারের সদস্যদের সঙ্গে দেখা করেন। ডিব্রুগড় বিমানবন্দর থেকে বেরিয়ে রাজ্যসভা সাংসদ ডেরেক ও’ব্রায়েন বলেছেন, এই নিরীহ ও অসহায় বাঙালিদের গুলি করে মারার পেছনে কী রহস্য থাকতে পারে! খুব ঠান্ডা মাথায় তাদের খুন করা হয়েছে।
November 4: Ending all speculations, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) delegation ultimately reached Tinsukia to meet the family of the victims who were shot dead by assailants on Thursday night and express solidarity with aggrieved families. Speculations in the political circles were ripe regarding the TMC visit because six lawmakers of the TMC had visited Assam’s Silchar on August 2 in the wake of the publication of the complete draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) on July 30. The TMC delegation, however, was stopped at the airport and not allowed to leave. They were sent back to Kolkata the next day.
The TMC delegation comprised of 3 MPs and one MLA. The three MPs are Derek O’ Brien, Mamata Bala Thakur and Nadimul Haque, all representing the Rajya Sabha. MLA Mahuya Mitra also accompanied them to Assam. On Sunday morning, they reached Dibrugarh airport in Assam. Their flight landed at around 7.50 in the morning. However, luckily enough this time, they were not detained at the airport and rather they were allowed to move ahead towards their destination.
Police sources in Assam, however, have informed that this time, the TMC delegation will be allowed to come out of the airport and meet the victim families but under heavy security presence. The delegation, headed by Derek O’ Brien came out of the Dibrugarh airport at around 8.10 AM and started for Tinsukia by road. It takes around two hours by road to reach Tinsukia from Dibrugarh. The four member Trinamool delegation has reached Kherbari village in Assam’s Tinsukia district at around 10 AM to meet the families of the victims who were shot dead by militants.
Addressing the media outside the Dibrugarh airport Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’ Brien said “What has happened is a dastardly killing of the most deprived and poorest Indian citizens… They have been murdered in cold blood.”
The TMC delegation has also given out Rs 1 lakh each as compensation to the families of the five people killed by the militants.
